"I used this water filter for a springtime Turkey hunt from Canoe on a mountain lake in Arkansas. I brought 2 gallons of freshwater with me and the only other water I had was from the lake which was covered with pollen. This filter cleaned and purified all my drinking water for the 2 weeks that I was on the lake. I am very satisfied with this product and can highly recommend It."
"Easy to use. Comforting to have on hand for emergencies."
"We used the Outback when our power was out (Texas storm) and were were on a Boil Water Notice. We had plenty of clean drinking water for our household without having to mess with boiling the water."
"A great resource in a bad situation."
"We bought this because we live in an area where we lose water a few times a year for one reason or another. We used it for the first time yesterday and it was very easy to set up. We had drinkable water quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend this for its ease of use and affordability."
"This system is well thought out and very simple in design but function and performance are far superior to other systems I have researched!"
"I never actually used it. I own it as an emergency water supply should I ever need it to drink the water from my creek. Be prepared!"
"It is May 8th 2021 just returned from a two-week stay on a mountain lake in Arkansas. Springtime on the lake presents a lot of pollen issues. The water source is very clear but the pollen is very heavy. The Outback Plus had no problem with the pollen. I filtered at least 25 gallons of good drinking water. Yes the sock filter over the particulate filter in the top bucket needs cleaning no problem the Outback Plus served me very well. Customer service was great also. The bottom bucket lid did not fit when I received my unit. But upon notification one was shipped out with Expediance. I guess my only question would be what covers the holes where the spicket and the two buckets meet for long-term storage?"
"It makes sense."
Q:
How does the Outback Ready Emergency Water Filter work without electricity?
A:
Gravity moves source water from the upper container through four filtration stages into the lower container. No pump, plumbing connection, or electrical power is required.
Q:
What source water can be used with the Outback Ready?
A:
Use visually clear freshwater from sources such as streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, springs, collected rainwater, or untreated stored freshwater. Avoid pool or spa water, and follow the operating guide for source selection and setup.
Q:
How much water can the Outback Ready produce?
A:
The system is designed to treat more than 24 gallons per day under suitable conditions. Actual output depends on source-water condition, temperature, filter loading, and how consistently the upper container is refilled.
Q:
What are the four filtration stages?
A:
The system uses the OB-NET pre-filter net, OB-SLEEVE pre-filter sleeve, OB-PF7 nano pre-filter, and OB-RF10 multi-media cartridge. Each stage should be installed in the specified order.
Q:
Is the Outback Ready intended only for disasters?
A:
It is designed for emergency preparedness, temporary water disruptions, disaster response, remote locations, and base camps. Its gravity-fed design is useful wherever electricity or pressurized water may not be available.
Q:
What should I buy for future filter replacement?
A:
The replacement set is OB-RFK-25RDY and includes the OB-NET, OB-SLEEVE, OB-PF7, and OB-RF10 components. Store replacement parts in a dry location and follow the maintenance instructions after use.
